In keeping with the Montessori philosophy of immersive education, meal times at Healthy Beginnings are lessons in socializing and etiquette in a fun atmosphere. The meal is served in the classroom at tables set by the students themselves with placemats and flowers.
Staff and children gather around, much as a family would, while soft music plays in the background. Students learn to view this as quality time, a time to share the day’s events with friends, discuss various topics and relax. Children learn table manners while interacting with peers and adults in a respectful and confident manner.
The staff at Healthy Beginnings believes that healthy and wholesome diets produce healthy and wholesome children. Our lunches and snacks are prepared fresh daily from nutritionally balanced organic ingredients.
All dishes are served family-style in glass bowls. No plastic, paper, styrofoam dishes, or utensils are used at Healthy Beginnings. These products are not eco-friendly and recent studies are inconclusive as to their safety in food service.
The use of child-safe serving dishes and utensils are similar to those used in a home-like setting, allowing children to master the essential mechanics of the dining experience.
In regards to our lunch menu, we provide vegetarian meals and do not serve red meat.
